Recently, Facebook has been experimenting with its Messenger app, slimming it down to focus more on chat and promised to bring dark mode for its Messenger users. Keeping on its words, Facebook is now rolling out the dark mode for Messenger, but there is a slight twist to activate this mode, that is, you have to moon someone.
As spotted by many big media houses, the trick is quite simple. All you need to do is simply send someone (or yourself) a crescent moon emoji (). As soon as you do so, a shower of moons appears in the chat window, and you’ll receive a prompt asking to activate the mode in settings. Now go to your profile page in the app, and you’ll see an option to turn the mode on.
As per the latest update, the dark mode has apparently not rolled out to everyone, and that some users are seeing the message that the work is still in progress.
