Slack, a cloud-based collaboration tool, introduced an updated version of iPhone app on Apple App Store before its official launch. The redesigned iPhone app has some major UI modifications and a new navigation bar at the bottom of the app for a better experience.
Other than the navigation bar, the app also have multiple other changes. The redesign of the new iPhone app looks almost similar to the app rolled out for beta version on Android earlier this month. The updates on the app make things simple and organized for the user.
Slack has also added a new Compose button in the right corner at the bottom of the app to make it simple for the users to generate new messages. Alongside this, another tab called the Home button has been added to change the channel.
The company has also redesigned the swipe feature of the app and the new version is far more updated and streamlined. Not only this, there is also a newly added bolt icon under the message box that will help the app users to get an immediate access to all the shortcuts.
Other than all the above features, Slack’s new version has an all-new sidebar that provides support to grouping of messages and apps into collapsible sections.
“Previously, it was complicated for a user to get to the four main things people do on mobile, we have fixed this with a new nifty navigation bar at the bottom of the app containing: a Home view for your sidebar, DMs, Mentions, and You (because setting your status/preferences on mobile needed to be easier),” stated Slack in the App Store update notes. “Now, swiping right will reveal your workspace and preferences, and swiping left will get you back to your previous conversation,” Slack added in the update notes.
The spokesperson of Slack, while talking about the redesigned iPhone app, remarked, “With the help of the new navigation panel all the issues will be resolved. Earlier, users had complained about the issue they had to face while using the app. But now users will get an updated and modified app soon which makes things simple for them.”
Presently Slack’s new app version is not available for iPad users. They will have to wait till the new version of the app is available for them to use.
Despite the fact that Slack has managed to release the app earlier and has laid out all the new features in App Store, the iPhone app, with changed features, will only be rolled out for users in early June. The early launch of the app has not benefited the users as the app is not working properly on the iPhone.
