A new feature has been added to Bumble, video or voice chat. This new feature is available for Bumble Bizz for making professional connections, Bumble BFF for making friends, and Bumble for dating. You must match with someone to be able to video or voice call with them. Right after matching with them, women can make a call first, but men have to wait until the women has made the first move. Now people don’t have to exchange numbers in order to talk on the phone, and if they don’t match with someone they no longer have the ability to call.
Badoo, is the only other dating app that has a video/voice calling feature. Which makes sense because Badoo and Bumble are operated by the same person, Andrey Andreev. He created a new holding group called Magic Lab which includes Badoo, Bumble, Chappy, and Lumen. He plans on investing in new technology to help “bring people together.”
Dating apps have been starting to integrate video into their platforms. On Hinge you can upload videos onto your profile. Tinder allows you to upload loops onto your profile. Bumble hopes to use video chat to allow people to get to know their matches a little better to help avoid bad first dates.
