GitHub Actions Gets Continuous Integration and Delivery Capabilities

Today, GitHub launched the beta version of GitHub Actions. The new version will have full continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) capabilities built right into the service. The feature will be available to the general public on November 13th. The company also announced that it now has more than 40 million developers on its platform.

Developers can now build, test and deploy their code on any platform and run their workflows in containers or virtual machines. Developers can also test multiple versions of their applications in parallel. This will be possible due to a new feature called “matrix builds”. The feature will let you, for example, test 3 different versions of the same code on Linux, Windows and MacOS at the same time.

The new version will support various languages and frameworks including Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Ruby, C/C++, .NET, Android and iOS. These new features are available for free during the beta and will remain free for all public repositories.
