TikTok has started an official Twitter account and a new information hub and to provide updates and clarifications regarding the company’s operations.
This move by the company is launched in a bid to set the record straight on company rumors, misinformation about the company.
TikTok has launched tiktokus.info, a website that organizes the company’s statements, news coverage, expert opinions, FAQs and other resources in a single destination. The company has denied claims that it provides TikTok US user data to the Chinese government.
The company has also revealed its commitments in areas like user safety and security. It is also shoeing its commitmentsto battling election misinformation and interference. The site along with showing features statements on TikTok’s battle against misinformation also shows its commitment to fair competition and transparency.
The FAQ section of the website answers questions – Has TikTok ever shared user data with the Chinese government? The site further makes it clear that TikTok US user data is stored in Singapore with strict controls on back-up and employee usage.
The new website is not the only way Tiktok is fighting to retain its place in the major US market. The company reportedly plans to challenge the ban’s constitutionality in a lawsuit.
The company has simultaneously launched an account on twitter by the name “@tiktok_comms”. The company has plans to share information and updates from the TikTok Communications Team.
This account’s creation is aimed at having the ability to rapidly react to adjustments and updates surrounding the company’s US ban. The ban has been extended to 90 days after the company issued the E.O., as an alternative of 45 days.
The company stated, “Today, we are taking another step to continue to build trust with our TikTok community by delivering the facts — in our own words and in the words of leading experts across cybersecurity, media and academia — because we neither support nor stand for the spread of misinformation on our platform, or about our platform.”
It added that transparency is at their core, and they are committed to leading the industry in security and accountability.
Microsoft is in conversation with the US government and stand as a bidder to acquire TikTok’s US operations.
It is very common for corporations to have a social media presence to share their information as the world governments are actively involved in the tech industry’s business. Apple, for instance, has slos launched a website to defend its App Store against US antitrust complaints.
