Apple launches Apple Arcade

Apple has launched Apple Arcade, its game subscription service on September 19th. The gaming service unlocks access to dozens of ad-free games for a monthly fee of $4.99 a month. Apple has promised one-month free trial and over 50 video game titles will be available.

The company initially rolled out the service for beta testing, a few days ago. Many people gained access to the service on devices enrolled in the iOS 13 public beta. According to beta testers, subscriptions are processing successfully, and games can be downloaded and played immediately.

Apple Arcade works across the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Mac computers, letting subscribers pick up where they left off across devices. All titles offered under the service do not include ads or any in-app purchases. You access the service by opening the App Store and selecting the Arcade tab.

Apple Arcade could have a major impact on the iOS ecosystem. Apple Arcade has stricter privacy standards than the rest of the App Store. The service is about making and distributing games via Arcade pre-analytics world, i.e. make a good game, play test it, put it into the world. With no ads or in-app purchases, developers will have to come up with new ways to make money.
