Twitter is Rolling Out Topics, a Way to Follow Subjects
Twitter is rolling out Topics, a new feature that will allow users to follow specific topics. You will be able to follow more than 300 “topics” across sports, entertainment, gaming, etc. in the same way you are currently able to follow individual accounts. By following these topics, you’ll be able to see tweets from accounts that you don’t follow but are relevant on these subjects.
Twitter executives are hoping that Topics will make the platform more approachable for new and intermittent users and make it easier for heavier users to discover new accounts and conversations. The feature is set to roll out globally on November 13th.
Rob Bishop who leads the Topics team said in a statement, “We know that the main reason that people come to Twitter is to keep up on the things that they’re interested in. The challenge is it’s really quite difficult to do that on Twitter day to day.”
